Detailed Reports
The two main valuation reports in common usage in Australian business circles are "Detailed reports and Summary reports".
The detailed report is a deeper report in that it discusses with the reader the various different valuation methods and valuation theories which are available for the report. It then discusses which is most appropriate for the business in question and then applies that particular method to the business valuation.
The summary report tends to simply focus on stating that a particular method has been applied without mentioning other choices.
The detailed report is best suited for the ordinary consumer and the court system. The summary report is most often used for a sophisticated client who already knows that a particular method is to be applied and in fact may have instructed the valuer to use that method.
Similar levels of reporting are used in property valuations.
